This book will help supervising teachers guide student teachers to develop their teaching and management skills. Most student teachers have theoretical knowledge of many of the components in this text, but need to consult with their supervising teachers about how to put the theories into practice. They will begin managing the classroom on their own, gaining experience in methods as well as forming attitudes to help transform them into teachers who demonstrate expertise in motivating students and managing the classroom.
This handbook will help the supervising teacher focus on particular needs of the student teacher. These materials are appropriate for supervising teachers, student teachers, first year teachers, departments of education, teacher training institutions, mentoring teachers, and first-year teachers.
The book is divided into five parts that include:
- Preparation for the Teaching Experience
- Classroom Management
- Theory into Practice
- Student Evaluation
- Professional Issues
This manual guides the student teacher through writing lesson plans, managing a classroom, communicating with the supervising teacher, teaching for various learning styles, developing questioning techniques, writing tests, using rubrics, and understanding legal aspects of teaching.
