Let's Read! assists teachers to organize, implement, and assess an extensive reading program. With questions and answers for eighty-eight novels, this unit helps the teacher improve students’ reading ability, develop students’ vocabulary, create a desire to read, assess progress, determine whether a student has read the text, and guide students through a variety of genres. Appropriate for a course that implements an individualized reading program, some novels studied in this unit may contain mature and/or controversial subject matter.
Students respond to three sections of questions for each novel. Section A helps students organize basic bibliographical information. Section B challenges students to analyze and discuss settings, conflicts, and themes. Recall and short answer questions featured in Section C guide students through the novel.
