Decsription Activities Other Books in This Series
The lessons focus on the decade of the 1960s. Lessons address the American Indian Movement, the organization of farm workers, the Cuban missile crisis, the beginnings of the student protest movement, and a woman’s perspective on the Vietnam War. Two lessons deal specifically with Supreme Court cases: Engel v. Vitale, which involves the issue of school prayer, and Miranda v. Arizona, which examines the rights of the accused. Another lesson looks at the British rock invasion by the Beatles and the change in American motion pictures marked by the release of Bonnie and Clyde.
Academic activities include large- and small-group discussions, brainstorming, analysis of documents, student presentations, charting, illustrating, interviewing, and surveying.
