Lessons in this unit prepare students to read the novel, afford opportunities to become personally involved in the reading, provide in depth studies of the characters, examine the author’s use of poetic language, and give students a chance to write about their reactions. Students also examine the structural elements of the novel including setting, symbolism, plot structure, and point of view.
Supplementary materials include reading quizzes, an objective test and a short-answer test with answer keys, vocabulary study, and composition topics.
