Recommended for Grade 9
This unit provides opportunities for young people to get in touch with themselves as people, to reflect on who they are, where they are, and where they are going. Students become involved in processes of meaningful discovery of their own uniqueness and contributions. They discover that life is a journey during which individuals become themselves as they grow in self-knowledge, concern about others, and relationship with God.
Lesson titles include the following: Who Am I, Acceptance of Others, Growing in Faith, Media Influences, Emotional Ups and Downs, and Glad to Be Me.
This minicourse edition offers students opportunities to read scriptural passages, respond to discussion guides, reflect on personal experiences, and interact in both small and large groups. In addition, students pray a personalized version of Psalm 139; write prayers; and rate progress they have made in various areas of their lives, such as respecting self and building self-esteem, recognizing God-given talents, being sensitive to others, tolerating differences in others, and strengthening relationships with friends and family members.
