This Student Exercise Book complements the Teacher Manual with the same title.  It enables students to recognize that Christian morality is not a matter of rules and regulations, but rather a response to the invitation of a loving God who invites us into relationship and to share in the life of the kingdom.  Through this resource, students gain the familiarity with Scripture that is essential to understand God’s will and the nature of good and evil.  The book also reinforces religious literacy by incorporating the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the 2,000-year-old Catholic moral tradition.  In addition, as the subtitle conveys, this resource  helps students develop the skills of moral decision making.

The text consists of eight parts: Morality--The Call to Be Fully Human; Morality and the Call to the Kingdom; The Nature of Conscience; Influences of Conscience; Forming a Christian Conscience; Sin and Evil; A Positive Approach; and Conscience in Action.
Exercise books can serve as records of individual faith journeys.  Activities stimulate class involvement, explore real-life experience, promote biblical and doctrinal literacy, foster creative thinking, teach community commitment, invite spiritual growth and prayer, and present service as essential to discipleship.  This resource is to be used in conjunction with the Teacher Manual by the same title.

Students participate in class discussions and reflect on experiences.  In addition, they help compose classroom commandments, rate themselves in the Beatitudes, write an editorial about the Sermon on the Mount, complete a crest of their own special qualities, consider adult roles models, and participate in an examination of conscience.
