Recommended for Grades 11-12

This forty-lesson unit introduces high school students to the wealth of Catholic teaching on social justice. It enables students to connect daily living with Catholic moral principles and values grounded in respect for human life.

The resource also offers strategies for putting moral principles into action, and it encourages students to unite themselves with the Church’s social mission and to work to bring about a more just and peaceful world through Jesus Christ.

The text consists of seven parts: : The Social Dimension of Morality, The Right to Life, The Dignity of the Human Person, Attacks on Human Dignity, Called to Be Peacemakers, Called to Be Leaven, and Called to Be Community. This manual includes many references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and is to be used in conjunction with the Student Exercise Book by the same title.

Teachers guide student discussions and encourage students to reflect on experiences and on issues such as abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, and organ donation.
