Decsription Activities Other Books in This Series
This unit informs students of several key concepts regarding the diverse population of species worldwide. It also allows students to investigate the endangerment of many different species within the United States as well as throughout the world. The disciplines of biology, geography, current issues, and the law are incorporated to help students understand how these subject areas are related. Lessons encourage students to apply their personal ideologies to issues related to human/environmental interaction. The unit culminates with a service-learning project that asks students to apply what they have learned and activate their positions regarding the content.
Activities in this unit include creating a political cartoon, creating a wall map of endangered species, creating a debate page about environmental issues, participating in a mock Supreme Court, writing creatively, and performing a service project. The unit features a unit review and an objective and short answer unit test.
