Recommended for Grades 11-12

This Student Exercise Book complements the Teacher Manual with the same title. It fosters knowledge about and respect for the faith and religion of diverse people of the world who carry on the great traditions of the world religions. Students come to affirm and appreciate their own identity and uniqueness as Catholics by comparing themselves with others in a positive, respectful manner.

The text consists of eight parts: How to Study the World Religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, East Asian Religions, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and An Ongoing Study. Exercise books can serve as records of individual faith journeys. Activities stimulate class involvement, explore real-life experience, promote biblical and doctrinal literacy, foster creative thinking, teach community commitment, invite spiritual growth and prayer, and present service as essential to discipleship. This resource is to be used in conjunction with the Teacher Manual by the same title.

Students participate in class discussions, write journal pages, and reflect on experiences. They read information about religious founders such as Confucius, Siddhartha Gautama, Muhammad, and Jesus of Nazareth, and they read descriptions of various religious ceremonies and festivals such as Hinduism’s puja and Judaism’s Purim.
