Through a study of scriptural foundations and contemporary Catholic documents, this book elucidates a Catholic perspective on human love and sexual morality. Readers will be reacquainted with significant biblical roots, review briefly the history of Christian thought on love and sexuality, reflect on Catholic values and moral norms, and consider their applications.
The steps in moral decision making are presented as the foundation from which aspects of select moral issues are considered. Some of these issues are birth control, reproductive technologies, premarital sex and cohabitation, divorce, and homosexuality. Questions are included to foster insights. Examples of these questions are as follows: In your experience, is the concept of “theology of the body” familiar to Catholics? How would you respond to a cohabitating couple who claimed their relationship was safer, more convenient, or more economical than getting married? What more could be done to curb pornography’s presence in society? What more could you do?
