During Lent, and especially during Holy Week, the focus of symbols, hymns, prayers, and scriptural readings is on the cross, the death of Jesus. The stations of joy, post-Resurrection events, continue where the stations of the cross leave off, completing the Paschal Mystery story.
Twelve post-Resurrection experiences, incorporated within fourteen stations and found in the four Gospels, explain the ultimate purpose and mystery of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. In the liturgical year, these are celebrated during the fifty-day period from the feast of Easter until Pentecost. For each of the fourteen stations of joy within this book, there is a narrative taken from the final chapters of each of the four Gospels, followed by a reflection and a meditative prayer.
This book is divided into two sections: individual meditations on the stations of joy and communal celebration of the stations of joy. The first section is intended to be used by the individual, but it can be easily modified for use with larger groups. The second section can also be used by an individual, but it is expanded with original songs to accompany group worship.
