The Holy Spirit calls catechists to a ministry that requires more than knowing their faith and understanding catechetical method. This ministry is an invitation to be God’s living word, to echo God’s word to others. It means taking the time to remove one’s shoes and stand in the mystery of God. Taking this step-by-step journey of personal conversion readies the catechist to minister. Catechists are awakened to that journey by the Emmaus story, which is the scriptural theme of the sessions of this important resource for the spiritual development of catechists.
