Students discuss the effects of alienation, guilt, and love on human behavior as well as the structural elements of setting, character analysis, symbolism, tone, and point of view. Students participate in values exercises, recognize themes, prepare a follow-up jury trial. They complete expository writing exercises and study the plot and subplot structure of the novel.
