This fantasy, the first book in the seven-volume Chronicles of Narnia, has been described as a Christian allegory of the New Testament, and features traces of Greek and Roman mythology. The story tells of four children who, one by one, stumble through the wardrobe into the Narnian forest in which animals converse with humans and magic abounds. Themes include betrayal, faith, forgiveness, death, evil, weakness, strength, and trust.
