Advanced Placement U.S. History, Book 3 (Student Edition)
American Imperialism (1900) to War and Terrorism (2000s)
Advanced Placement U.S. History, Book 3 is our completely revised and expanded college-level unit designed to prepare high school students to succeed on the Advanced Placement examination.
- Part 1 covers Imperialism to the Great Depression, a period marked by profound change in America with the Spanish-American war establishing the United States as a world power, a series of political and economic crises leading to World War I, and the Great Depression.
- Part 2 encompasses the decades of uncertainty between 1940 and 1970. As Americans recovered from economic depression, they also found themselves thrust into World War II and the Cold War. The political and social climate was changing on the home front with the Beat Generation. African-American leaders emerged as fighters for equality.
- Part 3 looks at the 1970s and beyond, including the end of the Cold War and increased American involvement in conflicts in the Middle East. Lessons examine a new kind of political conservatism that emerged in the 80s, changes in partisan politics in the 90s, and threats of international terrorism in the 00s.
