Advanced Composition (Student Workbook)
The Advanced Composition student workbook, containing exercises designed to accompany the Teacher Manual by the same title, is divided into four sections: basic concepts; thinking skills; methods of development; and the total composition. Advanced Composition concentrates on the more advanced skills of composition while incorporating work on common sentence-writing problems.
The first section reviews the skills covered in Basic Composition. Each of the three remaining sections has a particular focus, enabling the teacher to pursue the direction in the course that is most appropriate for students’ needs. The second section focuses on critical thinking skills involved in learning to write and writing to learn. The third section offers instruction and practice in particular methods of paragraph development. The final section provides students with opportunities to write and revise as they apply the composition skills they have mastered.
