World Cultures and Geography

World Cultures and Geography for grade 7 presents a study of the earth both geographically and conceptually, emphasizing the cultural perspective. Lessons help improve students’ critical thinking, as well as their communication, organizational, and research skills. Student handouts are designed for both homework and in-class work.

Part 1, Studying Our Global Village, includes lessons on reading maps and using graphs and charts to convey information. Part 2, Countries of Our World, examines countries from around the globe, including Canada, France, Peru, Singapore, Jordan, Egypt, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. Part 3, Hands Across Our World, explores facets of culture such as folktales, language, sports, technology, education, and diffusion. Lessons include Ethnocentricity, India: Panorama of a Region, and Leadership: Women Who Have Made a Difference.
