Participate in discussions and collaborate on best practices
CFL Book Groups are four-week courses which participants complete online at times that are convenient for them. The courses are facilitated by Master Teachers certified in online learning, who guide you through the lessons, post assignments, lead the Discussion Forums, and monitor your participation.
The Discussion Forums are the heart of online learning; facilitators post thought-provoking questions about classroom best practices for presenting challenging content. Most participants find the discussions to be lively and entertaining, and they look forward to reading the posts.
You’ll provide commentary on the facilitator’s questions, as well as on your colleagues’ comments. You’ll get great insights into the ideas, perspectives, and techniques of other teachers, which inspires most participants to implement exciting new strategies in their own classrooms.
In addition to posting comments to the Discussion Forum, the facilitator will also assign several small projects to be completed during the course.
No specific “class” times
One of the real benefits of asynchronous learning is that there are no defined class times, which not only allows you to
participate in the discussions when it’s convenient for you, but also allows you to contribute after taking the time to
think about your responses and craft thoughtful posts.
It’s recommended that you log on for a few minutes every day, which will allow you to easily keep up with reading the new
posts.
