Using photographs, rare news footage, and present-day interviews, this 1990 documentary powerfully evokes the events that engulfed the University of California at Berkeley.
From the early civil rights demonstrations and the free speech movement, through the increasingly violent anti-war clashes, the coming of the Black Panthers, and the rise of the women’s movement, vivid images are paired with the articulate reflections of 15 participants. The period footage is peopled with such memorable personalities as Huey Newton, Ronald Reagan, Joan Baez, Mario Savio, and Jimi Hendrix. DVD extras: deleted scenes, archival film clips not used in the program, an archival photo gallery, and the original theatrical trailer. Note: mature students.
