COUNSELING WITH COLOR
Creative Activities for Helping Children Explore Their Feelings and Perceptions
Reproducible activity book, CD-ROM
By Anthony Pearson and Robert Bowman. Help children explore and share their inner worlds with a counselor-designed coloring book. Forty-four reproducible activity pages with counselor instructions prompt student artists to create visual images that express their feelings and reveal how they perceive situations. In one activity, for example, children draw "magic mirror" self-portraits picturing themselves in present and future scenarios. Other activity types include drawing feelings on blank faces, adding colors to graphs to show frequency or intensity of various feelings, using color choices to express feelings in emotive designs, and, in a cartoon sequence, sketching in the final panel that resolves a social situation. Each of the activity pages can be photocopied or printed from the enclosed CD which also contains an interactive version of each activity page with a digital color-palette at the page bottom. Grades K–3. 11" x 8½". YouthLight. 63 pages. ©2015.
