DAILY WARM-UPS—TEST-PREP WORDS

Focusing on 180 words frequently found on standardized tests, this handy book offers quick vocabulary activities that can be used as mental warm-ups at the start of class, time fillers at class’s end, or transitions in the middle . Each warm-up presents a dictionary definition of a word, an example of a sentence using that word, and at least two brief exercises that help students better understand how the word is used. For example, for the word dulcet, students are asked to choose an antonym, use it in a sentence of their own, and try to guess what the phrase dolce vita  means. Grades 9–12. J.
