Starting from the premise that students will thrive when enabled to choose the ways they prefer to learn, this innovative resource offers lists of choices, referred to as menus, from which students select items, known as products, to complete and show what they have learned.
  • Description
  • Details

Four different types of reproducible menus are provided, each including lists of visual, kinesthetic, and auditory/oral products, that when completed serve as the basis for assessment of student work. Also included are suggestions for how to teach choices as a skill, specific guidelines for products, rubrics for assessing student products, free-choice proposal forms to encourage independent study, and teacher introduction pages for each menu. Among topics addressed are social studies and geography skills, culture, government, and U.S. history. Intended for high-ability learners in grades 6–8, but useful for secondary grades as well. Correlated to Common Core State Standards.
