HUNTER AND HIS AMAZING REMOTE CONTROL
Teacher's guide, CD-ROM
By Lori Ann Copeland. A creative resource for teaching self-control to children (especially children with ADD or ADHD), this program combines a full-color, illustrated storybook with a teacher’s guide to demonstrate and practice effective self-regulation strategies. The storybook (38 pages) tells the story of Hunter, a boy who fashioned a remote control that’s not for a TV, but for his brain. The “pause” button, for example, reminds him to stop and think before acting, and the “fast forward” button reminds him to anticipate the likely consequences of his actions. Other buttons help him slow down, filter out distractions, rethink past behaviors, reject negative thinking, use positive self-talk, and problem solve. The activity guide covers ten lesson topics with over 50 activities and handouts for individual or group settings. The CD contains ready-to-print handouts. Grades 2–6. 8" x 11".
