This standards-based curriculum familiarizes students with the ins and outs of long-term investing, building their ability to look critically at investment opportunities.
Twenty-three lessons cover four themes: basic concepts (e.g., securities and how they’re traded, parsing financial news pages), markets, financial planning, and markets vis-a-vis the economy at large. Lessons involve a mix of both written (e.g., short-answer and fill-in-the-blank questions, tracking stock prices) and hands-on activities, such as role-playing stockbrokers making trades, playing a "long-term goals" board game, and simulating the actions of financial institutions. Teacher pages provide objectives, complete procedures, reproducible masters, discussion questions, and multiple-choice and essay-based assessments.
