The History/Social Studies literacy section of the ELA Common Core State Standards are engagingly addressed through five units of study.
Each unit consists of learning station activities designed to involve students in individual or small-group activities, provide practice, and stimulate discussion. Unit topics include the Civil War, westward migration, Immigration, women’s suffrage, and citizenship rights and responsibilities. Whenever applicable, technology skills are integrated into activities. A teacher page accompanying each unit identifies learning goals, standards, materials, setups for activities, presentation instructions, and discussion questions. Also included: a CCSS matrix, student handouts, and an answer key.
