STRATEGIES FOR FICTION

Both books provide reproducible handouts supported by detailed descriptions of classroom activities along with correlations to Common Core and McRel standards and examples by grade range. Activities like think-alouds, concept maps, character portraits, plot diagrams, story mapping, vocabulary self-collection, and read-cover-remember-retell build vocabulary, prior knowledge, prediction and inference, questioning, and summarizing strategies; acquaint students with text structures and features; and develop the ability to visualize mental imagery.
