WE WERE THERE, TOO!

Right from the beginning, one quarter of Columbus’s crew was teenage or younger, and half the Taino Indians they encountered were under 16. Other subjects range from the famous and familiar (Pocahontas, "Wild Bill" Cody, Bill Gates) to youngsters who deserve to be better known (like Sybil Ludington, who outrode Paul Revere; or Jennie Curtis, a Pullman strike leader). Organized into nine time periods, the book features almost 200 authentic images: portraits, maps, documents, engravings, and photographs. Accounts include historical sidebars, quotes, and afterwords that tell what happened to the person in later years.
