WEEKLY WRITING PROMPTS FOR THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS CLASSROOM

Encourage students to explore their sense of voice on relevant issues and topics with these workbooks that feature weekly prompts synched to the calendar and the events of a high school year while addressing Common Core standards for argumentative, narrative, and informative/explanatory text writing. Included are writing-response based rubrics and graphic organizers, lists of keywords to know and incorporate into the writing, checklists for writing specific to the types of prompts, and space for brainstorming and organizing. The 52-page workbooks, organized by month and week, offer four prompts for each month. Topics range from campus safety and the United Nations to social media and mass incarceration. The workbooks are three-hole punched to go into a binder, allowing for insertion of additional pages as student work is completed.
