How do I create and place an order?

To create an order simply add items to your shopping cart. You can also add items to your cart through the search results list.

Conduct a search, work through the search results list, and then go into the individual product pages where you can add items to your cart.

Search for individual titles or product codes using our Search bar at the top of every page.

At any time when you have items in your shopping cart you may proceed to check out, add billing and shipping details and then order using either a credit card or a purchase order. You will receive an email confirmation shortly thereafter with your order number (e.g. SO185100).

How can I find the status of my order and when it will arrive?

To find the status of your order, fill out the form on the Contact Us page or chat with a LiveChat agent in the bottom right corner of this page. Our customer service representatives will be happy to let you know the status of your order. Please provide us with an order confirmation number to facilitate tracking. If you can’t find it, please include a purchase order number, school name, or district name for us to find your account and provide you with the proper information.

Please allow an approximate 7-10 business days for delivery of available material.

We ship all U.S. orders by UPS ground service or United States Postal Service priority mail. If for any reason your order is delayed, we will notify you via email.

How do I access my video streams and ebooks?

Digital material ordered online is accessible on My Digital portal. You can access My Digital by logging into your account. Log in with the username and corresponding password to access your digital content.

Can I use your website to create a quotation or requisition list?

Yes. Add as many items as you like to your quote by selecting the button which says “quote”. You can access your quote on the My Account page under Quotes. Fill out your information and use the button when generating a quote. You can convert your quote into an order at any time from the My Account page or from your quote confirmation email. The subsequent form creates an official quotation which locks in prices for 45 days—guaranteed.

To place an order using this quotation, please make the purchase order out to Social Studies School Service, PO Box 802, Culver City, CA 90232, and reference your quote number (if applicable). The purchase order also can be emailed to our customer service department at [email protected], faxed to 800-944-5432, or sent via regular mail.

May I return items that do not meet my needs or if they are damaged/defective? How do I receive a replacement or make a return?

We stand behind every product. Please contact us within 30 days or as soon as possible if you receive any damaged or defective material. Do not discard the material or packaging box(es) until after you’ve received our approval. Please provide us with an order number, purchase order number, school or district name to find your account and provide you with information. If possible, include any photos showing the damage or defect, or describe the issue with detail.

All items in salable conditions may be returned without authorization and are available for credit or refund. Please follow the instructions on the back of the packing slip regarding how to process your return, i.e. credit, exchange, etc. Please include the reason for the return. Please note that shipping and handling fees are non-refundable.

How much is shipping and handling for U.S. and International Customers?

U.S. regular shipping is 12% of the order with a $4 minimum, if billed to an open account or paid by credit card.
Should you require next day or second day delivery, the following charges will apply (some state restriction may apply):

  • Two Day Air will be 15% of the total with a $20.00 minimum charge.
  • Next Day Air will be 20% of the total with a $25.00 minimum charge.

Please allow one full day for order processing. Delivery time is calculated based upon business days and does not include weekends.

Please indicate any special shipping instructions in the space provided on the order page.

International Air Mail is 25% of the total with a $35.00 minimum. Please note that some items, due to their weight, may fall outside the shipping charges indicated above. We will notify you if there is any variance in cost prior to shipping the item to you.

Do you accept purchase orders?

School and Institutional purchase orders submitted by authorized personnel will be accepted upon credit approval through our website. Fill in the information in the spaces provided on the order form.

Do I need to add sales tax?

We collect applicable sales tax when the customer is in the following states (subject to change): CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, NJ, MD, MI, TX. If your organization is exempt from state sales tax, please include your state tax exemption number on your order.

Is my information secure when transmitting it to your site?

Yes. All transactions are encrypted for your protection.
