A PASSAGE TO INDIA

Eleven lessons have students study the social, political, and religious setting of India, as well as the area surrounding Chandrapore and its geographical, cultural, and social divisions. Students use graphic organizers to compare and contrast, study Forster’s use of language to evoke mood, interpret themes, engage in dramatic exercises to closely examine the motivations and methods of characters, and use film to observe the translation from language to cinematography.
