The main part of the map shows Greek lands in 431 B.C. (Athens and its allies, Sparta and its allies, and neutral areas), along with a troop movements and battles of the Peloponnesian War. A smaller part of the map shows Greek, Greek, Phoenician, and Etruscan lands in 600 B.C., along with trade routes between the three. The map also includes a timeline of government in Athens from 800–400 B.C.
