This examination of the oldest epic in the English language is rendered as a moving graphic novel (in the style of film 300), with all the gore the story demands. Scenes from the book mix with analysis by experts who (with the narrator) describe the characterization, plot, and notably the Christian allegorical aspects. Between the main sections, the program details archaeological evidence of the truth behind the myth, such as the Viking funeral ship buried at Sutton Hoo.
