CHARACTER QUEST

In cooperative “Bus Buddies” travel groups, students analyze Aesop’s Fables and complete creative, higher-level, character-building activities as they make stops at Trustworthy Town, Respectville, Responsibility City, Fair Haven, Carington, and Citizenship Junction. They practice and apply the basic concepts of character and develop skills needed to make ethical choices. As a culminating activity, they write and stage a Character Quest Production that focuses on one of the six character traits. The teacher’s guide provides procedures, handout masters, assessments, and extension activities; the student guides contain roles and worksheets. A 22″ x 34″ map is included. The full unit runs for 15 class periods, though each lesson may be shortened; many activities may stand alone. Grades 1–3. Interact.
