CHARACTER
A Cooperative Unit Using Literary Analysis to Reinforce Character Education
Cooperative group unit, map
Presented with only the beginning of stories centered on one aspect of good character (i.e., fairness, responsibility, honesty, caring, and respect), cooperative groups analyze the scenarios and write appropriate endings to them. For each story, students also participate in an activity exploring the character trait, such as a life-sized "board" game and examining stereotypes. The teacher’s guide provides complete procedures, handout masters, extension activities, and assessments. The simulation runs for seven class periods, including two optional days of activities. Grades 4–8. 8½" x 11". Interact. 42 pages. ©2002.
