COPING WITH THE BODY IMAGE BLUES
With a mix of humorous animation, dramatic vignettes, and real student interviews, the program takes a look at how bad self images can damage self-esteem and why it’s so important to accept one’s body the way it is. Teens talk about different types of influences—family, friends, and the media—and explain that eating healthy, exercising, getting plenty of rest, and practicing good hygiene will wipe away those body image blues. In addition, obesity and other eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia, are addressed. A summary of the program, learning objectives, student activities, and fact sheets are included on the DVD. Grades 5–9. Closed captioned. Color 22 minutes. Human Relations Media. ©2009.
