EARTH SCIENCE CONTRACTS

Students devise contracts setting weekly goals for completing a range of activities utilizing multiple intelligences (written, oral, visual, kinesthetic, musical, and artistic). Activities involve such skills as graphing, model making, writing, photography, and conducting science experiments motivate students to excel through their own interests and ability levels. Students choose from topics including rocks and minerals, fossils and dinosaurs, Earth structures and movements, and natural resources. The teacher’s guide contains procedures, all activities, handout masters, and assessments; student guides provide project guidelines, vocabulary, and sample contracts. Due to the individualized nature of the projects, class time varies widely. Grades 4–8. Interact.
