Using dramatizations and exercises, it introduces sensible listening principles, based on the acronym DRIVE, to improve comprehension and understanding. Students learn to Decide to listen, Read all stimuli including nonverbal clues, Invest spare time wisely by concentrating on the words’ content, Verify what they hear by asking questions, and Expend energy by focusing on the speaker and searching for his or her meaning.
