To promote understanding, filmmaker Luis Macias explores this neurological disorder from an insider’s point of view. Troubled and inspired by his own child’s struggle with dyslexia, he interviews parents, researchers, educators, and adult dyslexics. Viewers witness the costs of living with a neurological disorder often misinterpreted as stupidity or laziness, but the heartwarming and thoughtful documentary finally emphasizes how vital it is to screen children for dyslexia, teach coping skills early, and recognize and foster every child’s natural gifts.
