FUDGE FACTORY
A Simulation Solving a Scientific Mystery While Learning About Electricity and Magnetism
Simulation
Students will find this scientific mystery electrifying. They will study the discovery of electricity and conduct experiments in order to help the owner of Faraday’s Fudge Factory figure out why the power is out in her factory. Group problem solving activities explore static electricity, circuits, magnetism, conductors, and more. As they come up with solutions to Electricity Exploration activities, students acquire clues to the mystery and gain a deeper understanding of the scientific method and why it is used. Students keep a Science Journal throughout the process. Extra materials such as copper wire, batteries, and magnets are required. Time: 5–10 class periods. Grades 4–8. Interact.
