HEROIN RISING

Sharing their painful personal experiences with heroin, recovering teen addicts explain in frank detail the physical and mental effects of the drug, symptoms of withdrawal, overdoses (one young man recounts overdosing seven times in five years), and strained relationships. Drug abuse counselors provide scientific explanations for why heroin is so addictive and dangerous, emphasize that heroin is used by teens most would never expect to become addicts, and offer advice on how to avoid this increasingly accessible drug.
