Assuming the roles of managing editor, city editor, and reporter, members of student groups research presidencies from Taft to Clinton.
They then report their findings by using computers to publish their own “newspapers” containing student-written news and feature articles, letters to the editor, editorials and editorial cartoons, and opinion columns. The student guide details roles and responsibilities, scoring, examples, and article requirements. The 122-page teacher’s guide includes complete procedures, supplemental lessons, assessments, and reproducible student handouts. The entire simulation runs for 22 class periods; however, writing cycles can be combined due to time constraints.
