Seeing is believing: Africa is huge!
This colorful chart features an outline map of the continent of Africa, then tries to fill in the outline: China, turned sideways, fits neatly into Africa’s south; Europe fills Africa’s Saharan north; and there is still room in Africa’s center for all of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. The picture tells the story, but the chart also includes the numbers: Totaling their areas in square miles, China plus Europe plus the USA add up to less than Africa. All land masses presented to scale in Molleweide equal area projection.
