HOW TO END UNHEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
DVD (widescreen)
Help students identify red flags that signal an unhealthy relationship, and equip them with exit strategies. Addressing both friendships and romantic relationships, six teens relate real-life stories, and a social worker and a psychologist provide expert advice. Warning signs include power imbalances, double standards, lack of trust, lack of respect, and lack of choice, and unhealthy dynamics can take the form of physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, or cyber abuse. Viewers are given four tools for arranging a safe and positive exit: a carefully planned conversation, a written explanation, a nonconfrontational "let it fizzle out" strategy, and seeking adult intervention. A 47-page pdf teacher s guide supplies printable worksheets and informational handouts, a program summary, and a list of relevant NHES standards. Grades 7–12. Closed captioned. Color. 17 minutes.
