IS BINGE DRINKING REALLY THAT BAD?
Twin doctors experiment with their own bodies
DVD (widescreen)
Yes—and drinking small amounts of alcohol every day isn’t much better. This fascinating documentary follows identical twin doctors Chris and Xand Van Tulleken as they take a hands-on approach to understanding how our bodies respond to and process alcohol. For four weeks, Chris drinks the UK’s recommended three units of alcohol (less than three light beers, or roughly one large glass of wine) every day, while Xand saves them up for weekly binges. Their experiment reveals that Chris’s daily drinking had a measurable negative effect on his productivity, Xand’s body never fully recovered between binges, and both brothers did significant damage to their livers. Grades 8 and up. Closed captioned. Color. 51 minutes. BBC. ©2015.
