JUST LOOK AT YOURSELF
Empowerment for Middle School Girls
2 PowerPoint® presentations, 8 posters, leader's
By Victoria McGee. This research-based curriculum addresses issues of self-esteem in middle school girls. The core of the program is a small-group workshop consisting of eight one-hour sessions that include discussions, role play, journal writing, and other activities. The leader’s guide (63 pages) contains instructions, all necessary handouts, and a list of recommended resources. Among the topics explored are self-concept, self-talk, body image, sexual harassment, goal setting, and community action. Two PowerPoints®, one for parents (41 slides) and one for students (27 slides), can be used to educate larger groups in one or two sessions. A set of six 11" x 17" posters reinforces main ideas from the workshop. Grades 6–8. School Counselor Resources. ©2007.
