LAW AND THE TEENAGER
DVD
Connect with a representative to create a custom curriculum for your district.
As eighth grader Carl, complaining about all the dumb rules and laws that are ruining his life, walks home from school with his older, law-abiding friend Abby, their good-natured banter helps students grasp some important concepts.
Students learn that laws enable society to function smoothly, laws are based on principles held by a majority of people, and that police are responsible for enforcing laws, courts for dispensing justice and safeguarding basic rights. Teenagers and adults have similar rights, but the law may give juveniles different treatment. At several points during the program, a helpful attorney amplifies main ideas.
