An Interaction Unit Introducing Young Learners to the World of William Shakespeare
Curriculum unit
Young students will have a “Shakespearience” with the Bard as they are introduced to an adapted version of the “Pyramus and Thisbe” play-within-a-play, and the characters, of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Students will also participate in theatrical improvisation and pantomime, write poetry and prose about Shakespeare’s characters, learn and perform a rap about Shakespeare’s life, create coats of arms and Elizabethan masks, and plan and conduct a mini Shakespeare Festival. The 54-page teacher’s guide provides detailed instructions for coordinating and conducting the ten hours of class activities; each student guide is 24 pages. Grades 4–6. Interact. ©1998.
