A card is drawn. Throughout the group, fingers fly as each student tries different combinations of quarters, pennies, nickels, and dimes, striving to meet the sum. Daily exercises reinforce mathematical skills, while journaling encourages analysis and provides writing practice. The complete 15-day unit, conveniently organized into daily lesson plans, culminates in the real world, where, with the help of a commercial sponsor and parent supervisors, students count out change for real customers.
