Students explore marine life through activities such as drawing a map of the ocean, constructing a dolphin mobile, and painting a mural of waterborne vehicles.
Before their ocean voyage, student groups write postcards and get their passports in order, before completing activities about ocean life, its interrelatedness, and how humans travel on and underwater. The teacher’s guide contains complete procedures and all handout masters. The accompanying 34" x 22" map allows students to chart their cruises as part of a bulletin-board display. The volume’s 12 lessons run for a total of six class periods, though nearly every activity may stand alone.
