PLAYING IT SAFE
Skills for Healthy Living
DVD
Emphasizing that choices about a person’s safety are ultimately up to that person, this fast-paced video aims to place the best information on everyday dangers into teens’ own hands. Part one informs students about common risks associated with everyday activities: sports and other physical pursuits, navigating the Internet, and the newly gained privilege of driving. Part two focuses on avoiding health problems, such as infections owing to poor contact lens and body piercing care, deadly viruses and bacteria, and food-borne illnesses. Menu-based curriculum units provide discussion questions by segment. English and Spanish subtitles selectable. Grades 9–12. Color. 30 minutes. Discovery School. ©2006.
